What Should Be Included in a Clothing Techpack Template?

A clothing techpack template should explain the product, not just collect information in boxes.

what should be included in a clothing techpack template

A clothing techpack template is a production document. Its job is to help a manufacturer understand the garment well enough to quote, sample, revise, and produce it.

The exact sections depend on the garment, but the core structure is usually similar: summary, sketches, materials, measurements, colors, construction details, artwork details, and revision history.

Cover and summary

The cover should identify the style, brand, date, sample size, category, season, and a short product description. This gives factory contacts the context they need before opening the rest of the document.

Sketches and labels

Technical flats should show the front and back of the garment clearly. Callout labels should identify visible parts, placements, trims, panels, closures, and other details the factory needs to notice.

The best labels are short in the title and specific in the description. A title like "Collar" is easier to scan than a long sentence, while the description can explain construction or placement.

Materials and measurements

The bill of materials should include the main fabric, secondary fabrics, trims, labels, thread, packaging, and any artwork-related materials. Each row should include quality, description, color or Pantone, placement, and supplier status.

The measurement section should list points of measure, how each one is measured, the sample size value, graded sizes, and tolerance. This section is one of the most important tools for controlling fit.

Construction and special modules

If the design includes embroidery, graphic print, all-over print, quilting, patchwork, detachable parts, or other special features, those details usually deserve their own pages. A good techpack template should expand when the product is more complex.

Build the techpack while the details are fresh.
